Student housing scheme in Coventry reaches completion

A £32 million 504-room student housing development in Coventry’s university district has been completed.

The Parkside Infinity project, delivered by London-based architecture studio, Apt, for UNINN Parkside Development Ltd. is a new landmark building at a gateway site into the city centre and has been designed to address the area’s protected heritage views.

The designs for the 213,602 square-feet site respect and frame the city’s historic sites, such as its listed church spires, and residents will enjoy access to generous high-quality living and social spaces as well as a gym, cinema room, and karaoke room. There is also a central courtyard with glazed link bridges, opened at ground floor to a secluded landscaped garden.

The site comprises attractive five and six-storey buildings, which reflect the context of their setting, while a larger 14-storey building is located where the city’s Ring Road meets Mile Lane. Meanwhile, there are additional 10 and 20-storey buildings closer to the Ring Road – the larger of the two boasting at its top a panoramic, communal, flexible room with a peripheral terrace to enjoy views of the city. Such features represent a positive contribution to Coventry’s rapidly developing city centre skyline.

The student living spaces have been developed and finished to a high standard with a modern colour palette. Each cluster has between five and nine large en suite bedrooms, a communal lounge and kitchen and a connecting corridor, with views of the city and central courtyard available from all rooms.

Stephane Piazza, Project Leader at Apt, said: “Parkside Infinity is a brilliant example of Apt’s expertise in designing student accommodation on a tight budget and delivering a high-quality scheme. Generous cluster en suite and studio rooms, combined with exceptional communal facilities has made the project a tremendous success both for the client and with the student residents.”
