A new housing development in Saffron Walden is now more than 75% complete, with Linden Homes having finished work on 159 of the 200 properties being built at Saffron View, off Radwinter Road.
122 of the properties have been sold privately, with 81 of them now in the hands of their owners, while the remaining 78 properties set aside as affordable homes or shared ownership are all now occupied.
Jason Colmer, Sales and Marketing Director for Linden Homes Eastern, said: “Construction work is progressing well at Saffron View where almost 80 per cent of the homes have been completed four years into the five-year build programme. In addition to the 81 private homes that are now occupied, a further 19 have been sold, meaning that we have reached the milestone of 100 reservations. Demand has been consistently strong ever since we began work on the site in 2017.”
The planning agreement for the development also saw Linden Homes – part of the Vistry Group – provide £1.68 million worth of funding towards local services and infrastructure.
Colmer added: “The secret was already out that Saffron Walden was a highly desirable location but after it was named by The Times in December last year as one of the best places in the country to live, we were inundated with calls from prospective purchasers looking to relocate here. Around 85% of the buyers at Saffron View have moved from outside the area, with the vast majority coming from London in search of more space and a better quality of life.
“Buyers have swapped their one- or two-bedroom flat in Chelsea or Westminster for a large five-bedroom detached property at Saffron View, with some having money left over after securing their new home.”
Construction work has been ongoing at the site since 2017 and the development remains on course to be completed in its entirety by December 2022.
A number of three-, four- and five-bedroom properties remain available, with prices ranging between £465,000 and £854,995.
