The John Lewis advert is upon us which means only one thing, it’s time to start thinking about Christmas.
When it comes to the festive period, we at Property Rescue of course love to make our homes look good. We deck the halls and roast those chestnuts on an open fire – if we’re lucky to have one that is!
With Santa just over a month away from slipping down the chimney, we decided to take a look at some of the top trends that’ll be lightening up our homes this winter…
The Handmade Effect
With the world getting crafty and the likes of the Great British Sewing Bee popular on our screens, handmade decorations are going to be as popular as ever.
Why not get making with the kids and produce some decorations that really capture the spirit of the holidays? You could make baubles, garlands, or perhaps even some models and more unusual decorations for an even more special Christmas.
The shops will also be full of decorations with gorgeous hand made items, perfect for this season.
We’re going to see a step away from the traditional, icicle-like lights we’re used to and see some more unusual lights take over our trees.
There are dozens of quirky light designs starting to hit the shelves from pineapples to leaves, to Pom poms and reindeer.
For a few years now tinsel has been considered a little tacky but not anymore. It’s back and it’ll be as glittery as ever.
Give your tree a retro treat and fill it with sparkly golds and silvers to make your tree a real focal point in the room.
Like no child should go without a present, no table should be lacking a centrepiece this Christmas.
Whether you’re making your own or buying one from the many, many stockists out there, the family should all be sitting round one waiting for Christmas dinner.
This year we’ll see a number of rustic ones hitting the shops with this one of the key trends, but don’t be afraid to go off trend and bring that leftover tinsel into the dining room.
A Worldly Christmas
Naturally, across the world every Christmas tradition is different so why not bring those into your festive season.
There will be plenty of quirky Christmas decorations around this year with major UK retailers including llamas, cacti, and unicorns. Forget the snow, Christmas is about to get exotic!
