We may have started hoping that pay freezes and redundancies would now come to an end as the economy struggles to recover; however, this is unfortunately not the case. Workers in the Vauxhall plants in Luton and Ellesmere Port have agreed to accept a two-year pay freeze, which is one component in a Europe-wide restructuring deal. The Vauxhall workers are represented by the Unite union, which has signed an agreement with General Motors (GM), owner of Opel/Vauxhall across Europe. The two-year freeze in pay will begin in the beginning of 2010 and is expected to save GM £26.5 million. Further cost savings involving pension schemes are also being implemented and 519 jobs have been cut from the company headquarters and the plant in Luton, where the Vivaro van is made.
If you are among the many facing pay freezes or redundancy, or are struggling with rising costs and need cash to pay your arrears, you might want to consider the help of a sell to rent back company. Sell rent back companies will buy your home for cash and allow you to stay as a tenant if you choose to sell and rent back. Property Rescue is one such sell to rent back firm and is able to exchange in as little as 48 hours. When choosing to sell rent back through Property Rescue, you can also avoid valuation fees and estate agency fees. Sell to rent back is a great way to get fast cash without having to leave your home, making sell and rent back a popular option.
