The High Court blocked a planned 12-day strike by British Airways cabin crew over the Christmas holiday and has deemed the action unlawful; however, the Unite union has made it clear that this will not be the end of their actions in response to changes being made at BA. The proposed walkout would have affected over 900,000 travelers with flights booked during this time. As part of their planned changes to remain profitable, BA plans to cut 4,900 jobs by 31 March 2010, which is 12.7% of BA’s workforce. Although the strike was blocked over Christmas, it is likely that it will be taken to ballot again and a strike may occur.
